Laid Off- What Do I Do Now ! ! !

I just got laid off of work yesterday. My work said they were eliminating my position. They wrote me a letter of recommendation and wished me luck. I was told it was not my fault and that they were sorry ( blah, blah, blah). Either way I am job less. I am the sole provider for my family, now what to do. I have contacted lots of people today including a headhunter & unemployment. This could get really bad. My husband has not been able to work for 5 years he has a rare non-cancerous ( as of yet) lymphoma and has surgery coming up, we don't have the date yet. I don't know if I can handle all of the stress. This economy is killing me, I have my jewelry and such in stores, but not that many any longer. Four stores closed last year, and two already this year. I need to find more of an outlet for my work.

What has this economy done to your life.

I am sorry to hear about your layoff..it is happening all over the country. I hope you have filed for your unemployment, that is so important. You can do it over the phone or online at UI website. Since you live in Washington we have what is called Workers Retraining. Once you receive your first UI check you are eligible for this. If you would like to go back to school you can and they will help get you started. All you have to do is contact a Community College or Tech School, (like Renton Tech) any two year college here has a workers retraining program. I work at Tacoma Community College and am the program asst. for worker retraining. But do file for your UI, also contact your WorkSource office. Kim is you need more info please just convo me I will be more than happy to help you out..

What a wonderful offer! And great advice. Many years ago I used the services of the WorkSouce office and words can't express the gratitude I feel towards those who helped me at that time in my life!

This is a challenging time for you. Please utilize the resources that are available to you! An opportunity will come up. I'm sorry I don't know anyone in Washington. I know many people through out the country, but not your state. I know someone else will step forward to help you though. I really believe this!
